Tools & Gear Tier List

Weapons win Larry fights, but tools win runs. SubCargo’s Roblox alpha still expects crews to weld breaches, fight fires, mop flooded rooms, and dive structures for loot that funds Krakken’s Arsenal. This tier list ranks Underforge shop tools, dive essentials, and common structure loot by utility—not flavor—so you spend credits before the submarine sinks. Gear availability mixes shop buys and random structure spawns; prices noted where the community documents them.

SubCargo remains in early access, not a full release—loot tables and shop stocks can change. Cross-check Updates Hub after patches.

Combat rankings: Weapons Tier List. Overview: Tier List Hub.

S tier — Welder

Source: Underforge (~$230) or occasional spawn loadouts
Role: repair submarine wall panels from 0% to 100% in about 11 seconds per panel when used correctly

The welder is the most important purchase in alpha. Flooding ends runs faster than Larry if breaches chain uncapped. Welder also deals entity damage in emergencies—friendly fire applies—so it doubles as desperation defense.

Buy immediately on first dock visit unless your spawn already includes one.

S tier — Wrench

Source: Underforge
Role: interact with submarine systems, assemblies, and maintenance tasks crews rely on between deliveries

Wrench work is less flashy than guns but gates progression on many alpha objectives. Pair with a dedicated engineer player while divers loot.

Buy early alongside welder before luxury weapons.

S tier — Diving suit

Source: outside airlock at dock; required for structure dives
Role: access wrecked subs, labs, drilling sites, and other loot structures underwater

Structure runs supply items you can sell back at docks—funding both Underforge and Krakken’s Arsenal. Without a diving suit, you skip large parts of the economy loop.

Priority: before cosmetic or duplicate handheld weapons.

A tier — Fire extinguisher

Source: Underforge
Role: suppress onboard fires that outpace welder repairs

Fires stack panic with flooding. Extinguishers stabilize rooms so welder channels complete. Crews without one often abandon deliveries mid-alpha.

Buy when: you have base tools and expect long routes.

A tier — Scrap collector

Source: Underforge; not in random structure loot tables per community notes
Role: improve scrap gathering efficiency for resale and crafting loops

Because structures cannot roll scrap collectors, buying at dock is the reliable path. Strong for economies built on structure farming.

Buy when: your crew dedicates players to loot routes.

A tier — Oxygen tank

Source: structure loot and dock-related spawns
Role: extend underwater time during structure dives

Oxygen enables deeper loot sessions without rushing airlock cycles. Tier A instead of S because some crews short-circuit dives early-run—but mid-alpha it becomes core.

Grab from loot when possible; buy/duplicate if dives are frequent.

B tier — Mop (standard and red variant)

Source: Underforge (~$220 for standard mop)
Role: manually remove water in rooms below ~5% water level where automatic pumps struggle

Mops solve niche cleanup after minor leaks. Both standard and red mop variants serve the same practical role; color is visual distinction, not power tier.

Buy when: you repeatedly fail due to low-percent flooding, not Larry DPS.

B tier — Flare

Source: structure loot
Role: light dark dive paths and mark locations for teammates

Flares help navigation in murky alpha lighting—especially with headlamps during structure exploration—but do not directly stop breaches.

Take free loot; low priority purchase if shop ever sells them.

B tier — Spraygun / paint

Source: Underforge (~$230); cosmetic coloring for submarine hulls
Role: paint and personalization (including alternate color variants like purple noted in community guides)

Purely cosmetic for meta unless morale counts. Buy after S and A tiers unless events reward paint bonuses later.

Structure loot vs shop buys

Random structures—including labs, wrecked submarines, and drilling sites—can spawn many tools and dive items. Labs tend to carry broad loot; wrecks skew expensive items; drilling sites are rarer. Flooding the airlock and diving remains the loop that feeds weapon purchases.

Rule: if a tool is S tier and you find it diving, bank credits instead of duplicate-buying at Underforge.

  1. Welder + wrench from Underforge
  2. Diving suit access for loot roles
  3. Fire extinguisher when fires appear on your route
  4. Scrap collector for dedicated farmers
  5. Budget handgun from Weapons Tier List if Larry threatens
  6. Mop/flare/spraygun as luxury

Crew assignments

  • Engineer: welder, wrench, extinguisher
  • Diver: suit, oxygen, flare; structure callouts
  • Security: handheld gun after tools funded
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for SubCargo crews in Roblox alpha.

What should I buy first at the Underforge?

Welder and wrench. Hull repair and system maintenance prevent run losses cheaper than buying guns first.

Is the red mop better than the normal mop?

No gameplay advantage is documented—both clean low-percent flooding. Color is cosmetic preference.

Can I find a scrap collector in structure loot?

Community notes say structures exclude scrap collectors, making Underforge the reliable source.

When is the spraygun worth buying?

After S and A tier survival tools and at least one reliable weapon if Larry is common. It is primarily cosmetic.
